My Art

When people ask if I am an artist I often answer “Trying to be” or, “Kinda”.  I’ve had this artistic ability since I can remember and I have made a lot of things, but had very little desire for it to be my way of life.  I won a couple scholarships to two art schools in high school but had already decided to go to college to be a Veterinary Technician, which is something I do regret sometimes.  But I was fully aware of the “starving artist” lifestyle and had realized that if I was forced to make a living with my art, I would grow to hate it.  So I just create here and there, take classes when I feel like it to learn new techniques and mediums.

My first love is pencil drawings, it’s what I am most prolific in.  That, and doodles in school.  I love clay and wheel throwing and I wish I could do it more.  My dream house includes a huge art studio with a wheel and kiln!  I have dabbled in watercolors, tempra, acrylics, pastels, oil pastels, chalk, charcoal, sculpy, paper mache, beads, wire, stained glass, fused glass, origami, and others I am probably forgetting.  My two newest favorite mediums are fiber art (crocheting, knitting) and gourd decorating.  I tend to do one two forms of art whole hog for days to even months sometimes and then put it away for months, even years.  But there is one that has kept my interest for over a decade now.  I discovered the joys of digital photography in 2001 and have not put it down since.  I am just about an entirely self taught photographer, not having much time for school, but I think I do ok.  I do not have any desire to be a photographer for hire, or only rarely so (and only for friends) I would rather compose the shots I want and maybe sell a print or two someday.

Anyways, here is my art site, newly upgraded, again.  This site will probably be under continual construction for a while until I get all the kinks out.

Enjoy!
